Car Train to Hamburg

Such train ride is quite an interesting experience. Rattling, squeaking and shaking all night – but at least one meets nice people. We got a bottle of red wine in Lörrach, but guess where I had the opener. Right, in the kitchen suitcase, which was of course still on the bike, a few wagons after ours. But luckily the nice couple had one and of course we invited them for a drink. But even with the wine and the beers we had, the train was still rattling, squeaking and shaking all night.

Getting the bikes on the train was quite interesting. They asked us to put the helmets on and yes, you should do so. The wagon has a very low ceiling and I bumped against it one or two times. Hey provided bands to attach to the bike so the workers can strap the bike down, so you don't have to bring your own, but I'm still glad we got some, we'll need them on the ferries in Norway I guess.
Getting off the train was a lil nightmare. We had to drive all the way through the car train, an as you can see, there is really not much headroom...

Hey, and I managed to build my tent!!! Cool, I won't have to sleep under the open sky :) Not that this would be a problem, it is still very warm and sunny. Denmark is pretty much as you would imagine it – flat. But, as soon as you get away from the main roads it is actually rather nice. Lots of nice small houses with roofs that look as if it would be made of dried grass. As they are still standing I assume it means that the Danish fire brigade is rather effective.
